Program at a Glance
At participating Klein ISD elementary campuses, PLTW Launch brings engineering, computer science, and biomedical exploration to life for PreK–5 students through playful, project-based learning. Children design, test, and improve their ideas as they learn to think like creators and problem-solvers: planning with peers, communicating their thinking, iterating when something doesn’t work, and celebrating growth. Age-appropriate activities introduce early coding, modeling of scientific and engineering practices, and real-world connections that make learning meaningful and memorable.
Highlights
PLTW Launch classrooms emphasize hands-on challenges and collaborative design so students practice the habits of mind used by scientists and engineers. Lessons are intentionally playful yet rigorous, introducing foundational STEM concepts through making, testing, and reflecting. Klein ISD pairs this nationally recognized curriculum with the warmth of neighborhood schools: trained PLTW teachers, welcoming campuses, and a supportive community ensure every child feels known, challenged, and excited to learn.
Benefits & Educational Outcomes
Young learners develop early computational thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills that form the foundation for later STEM success. Through repeated cycles of design and reflection, children strengthen communication, persistence, and creativity while building confidence with technology and academic concepts. PLTW Launch prepares students for continued STEM pathways in intermediate, middle, and high school, supporting long-term readiness for advanced coursework, career exploration, and college opportunities.
