Why Families Choose Epps Island
Epps Island is a State School of Character recognized by Character.org—proof that who students become is as important as what they learn. Our campus lives the Tiger Traits every day: Team Player (We Not Me), Innovative (Risk Taker), Golden Rule (Good Citizen), Engage (Ready to Learn), Resilient (Failing Forward), and Self-Reflective (Seeks Feedback). Families consistently praise the welcoming staff and the way our teachers “roll up their sleeves” to help kids succeed.
How Tigers Learn
Classrooms at Epps Island are designed for clarity, collaboration, and growth. As a Visible Learning campus grounded in John Hattie’s research, we focus on high-impact strategies that make learning visible to students. Children experience personalized learning through small-group instruction and collaborative learning stations, while PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports) ensures a safe, consistent environment. Students also join the Klein ISD Innovation Challenge, solving real-world problems with peers and presenting their ideas.
Character and Care You Can Feel
We teach the whole child. Guided by the TEKS and Klein ISD’s Profile of a Learner, our school counselor partners with families to support academic, personal, and career development. That whole-child approach—paired with Tiger Traits—helps students build empathy, integrity, and perseverance alongside strong academic skills.
Triple AAA Experience: Academics • Arts • Athletics
As a proud Klein ISD Triple AAA campus, every Tiger participates in music and art and in physical education—100% campuswide participation—so students move daily, create boldly, and build confidence that carries into reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. Performances, showcases, and campus traditions give children frequent chances to shine.
Clubs and Leadership for Every Interest
From the spotlight to service, there’s a place for every Tiger: Choir, Percussion, Coding Club, Destination Imagination, Culture 4 Caring, Leadership Academy, and Name That Book Club. These programs help students discover passions, make friends, and practice leadership with caring mentors cheering them on.
Partners in Every Child’s Success
Families plug in through the Parent/Teacher Organization, Parent University, volunteering, and mentor opportunities—easy, meaningful ways to support classrooms and celebrate student growth. Together, we create a school where students are encouraged, celebrated, and challenged.
Plan Your Visit
Tour our campus, meet our team, and explore programs tailored to your child’s strengths and interests. At Epps Island Elementary, Tigers live their traits, lift each other up, and lead with purpose—so they enter with a promise and exit with a purpose.

Parent University
We believe families are powerful partners in every child’s success. Parent University is a free program for parents and caregivers. Through interactive sessions hosted on campus, at district events, and virtually families gain practical tools to support learning at home, stay informed, and connect with trusted staff. Topics range from helping with homework to building healthy routines to navigating digital safety, all aligned to each school’s academic goals.
