Qualification Criteria
Families interested in Texas Promise Academy begin the application process by choosing the program that best fits their student, reviewing available courses, and confirming the student meets eligibility and readiness guidelines. To be eligible, students must be Texas residents, meet the grade-level requirements for enrollment, maintain a 70% or higher grade average in all courses, and earn passing scores on all STAAR End-of-Course exams, or an equivalent for homeschool and private school students. Students should also be ready to learn in a virtual setting by staying responsible and organized, managing their time, communicating respectfully with instructors and mentors, seeking support when needed, and using online learning tools appropriately. After families submit the application, the Texas Promise Academy team confirms eligibility, requests any needed documentation, communicates next steps, and provides confirmation of acceptance. Space is limited and granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
