Program at a Glance
OnRamps courses are dual enrollment classes created by University of Texas at Austin faculty to give high school students authentic college-level learning experiences. Offered in partnership with UT Austin and delivered with local support, these courses let students earn college credit and high school credit at the same time while experiencing university expectations for depth, rigor, and academic integrity.
Highlights
OnRamps courses are designed by UT Austin faculty and built to mirror college-level instruction and assessment. The curriculum emphasizes college-ready skills—critical thinking, analytical writing, and disciplined problem solving—while providing a supported environment in high school. Klein ISD students take OnRamps classes as part of their regular schedules, guided by trained instructors and supported by campus counselors, so they can engage in university-quality coursework without leaving their high school community.
Benefits & Educational Outcomes
Students who complete OnRamps courses gain firsthand experience with college expectations, strengthening study habits, academic confidence, and readiness for postsecondary work. Earning transferrable college credit while completing high school can reduce time-to-degree, lower college costs, and make students’ transcripts more competitive for selective admissions and scholarship opportunities. Beyond credit, the program develops research, collaboration, and communication skills that benefit students across future AP, dual-credit, IB, and college coursework. Students who successfully complete OnRamps courses earn a University of Texas-Austin transcript for future transferability to postsecondary institutions.
