The Interior Design Program introduces students to the creative and technical processes involved in designing functional, aesthetically pleasing interior spaces. Through a blend of artistic exploration and applied design principles, students learn how to plan, draw, and visualize residential and commercial interiors. This pathway is ideal for students interested in interior design, architecture, home staging, space planning, or pursuing related careers in the design and construction industries.

Highlights

Students begin with Principles of Architecture, where they gain foundational knowledge of design concepts, spatial awareness, and architectural drawing. They progress into Interior Design I and Interior Design II, where they explore furniture design, color theory, textiles, lighting, materials, and space planning. Students use industry-standard tools and software to create floor plans, renderings, and design boards that reflect professional-level design thinking.

In their senior year, students complete the Practicum in Architectural & Interior Design, applying what they’ve learned through advanced design projects and collaborative studio work. During this practicum, students prepare for the Autodesk Certified User in Revit Architecture, a valuable industry certification that demonstrates technical proficiency in 3D modeling and design software widely used in architecture and interior design fields.

Benefits & Educational Outcomes

Students graduate with strong design communication skills, spatial reasoning abilities, and a solid understanding of how interior spaces are conceptualized and executed. They learn how to develop design presentations, select materials, create renderings, and apply design principles to solve real-world challenges. The program supports college pathways in interior design, architecture, drafting, or visual arts while also preparing students for entry-level opportunities in design studios, home décor businesses, or construction-related roles. With CCMR credit and industry-recognized certification opportunities, students leave the pathway with a professional portfolio and the technical skills needed to excel in creative design fields.
