Program at a Glance
The Architectural Design Program immerses students in the world of architectural drafting, design, and the built environment. Students learn how ideas move from concept to construction through technical drawing, digital modeling, and hands-on design projects. This program prepares students for future studies or careers in architecture, interior design, construction, engineering, and other design-related fields by developing both creative and technical problem-solving skills.
Highlights
The pathway begins with Principles of Architecture, where students explore spatial design, structural concepts, and the role of architecture in shaping communities. In Level 2 and Level 3, students progress to Architectural Design I and Architectural Design II, gaining experience with industry-standard design software, drafting techniques, and digital modeling tools. By Level 3, students train toward the Autodesk Revit Certification, demonstrating proficiency in the platform used by architects and designers worldwide.
The capstone year is the Practicum in Architectural & Interior Design, where students apply their knowledge through advanced design projects, collaborative planning, and real-world problem solving. During this practicum, students work toward the Autodesk AutoCAD Certification, another highly valued industry credential that enhances technical readiness for architectural or engineering pathways.
Benefits & Educational Outcomes
Students develop a strong foundation in drafting, 3D modeling, architectural planning, and design communication. They learn to interpret and create professional architectural drawings, apply design principles to complex problems, and use industry-recognized software to bring their ideas to life. The program supports college readiness for majors in architecture, civil engineering, interior design, urban planning, and construction sciences.
Graduates are equipped with industry certifications, practical design experience, and CCMR credit, giving them a competitive edge for internships, entry-level drafting roles, or continued study in architecture and related STEM and design fields. Students leave the program with a professional portfolio that reflects their creativity, technical skill, and understanding of architectural design processes.
