Theatre Management offers a practical, in-depth introduction to the essential responsibilities of a performing arts center manager. The curriculum provides students with the core skills required to operate a successful venue, including equipment upkeep, venue maintenance, client communications and event execution.
Highlights
This Theatre Management course provides high school students with industry-specific training focused on the critical operational areas of venue preparation and management. Highlights include mastering the technical logistics of a venue, such as implementing scheduled maintenance protocols for all theatrical equipment (lighting, sound, and rigging) and developing sophisticated systems for strategic resource and personnel scheduling. The program emphasizes successful technical execution by providing hands-on practice in preparing all audio/video and rigging equipment required by outside clients, and serving as the key liaison to ensure client needs are met regarding technical requirements and venue policies. Ultimately, the course prepares students to flawlessly execute day-to-day operations and manage high-stakes performances and meetings, guaranteeing a smoothly run, technically successful event.

How It Works / Getting Involved
Theatre Management is available through classroom coursework. Students who have successfully completed two years of theatre coursework are eligible to enroll in this course. Directors and technical staff provide mentorship, labs, and supervised responsibilities, and campuses coordinate schedules so students balance classwork demands with academics.
