H.E.R.D. Values in Action
You’ll feel Blackshear’s culture the moment you arrive. Our H.E.R.D. Core Values—Honor Self & Community, Exhibit Pride, Radiate Gratitude, and Demonstrate Integrity—guide how we learn, lead, and treat one another. Daily community circles connect students with caring adults and classmates, while strong school–home partnerships keep every Buffalo moving forward.

Learning That Fits Every Learner
Blackshear’s Program Highlight is high-quality instruction powered by personalized programs, peer collaboration, and extension lessons after mastery. Teachers know students by name, strength, and need, and tailor learning opportunities so each child meets the moment—then keeps climbing. Innovative, blended academics from PK–5 drive growth in reading, writing, and science, with results you can see in classrooms and student work across campus.

Recognition, Resources, and Results
Our intentional focus on relationships and character produces happy, emotionally intelligent students—and it attracts investment. Blackshear has earned $175,000+ in grants, including a TEA Technology Lending grant, two $25,000 Klein Education Foundation grants, and an additional STEM grant—all fueling hands-on learning, access, and innovation for Buffaloes.

Triple AAA Experience: Academics • Arts • Athletics
As a proud Klein ISD Triple AAA campus, Blackshear ensures 100% participation in physical education and 100% participation in music and art. Movement, music, and visual arts create joyful moments that build healthy habits, creativity, confidence, and school pride—while supercharging success in core subjects.

Character You Can See
We teach the whole child. Guided by the TEKS and Klein ISD’s Profile of a Learner, students “level up” in rigorous academics and excellent character. Each elementary campus also has a school counselor who partners with families to support educational, personal, and career development.

Clubs, Leadership, and Belonging
There’s a place for every Buffalo to shine: Life League, GEMS, Book Club, Coding Club, Strings, Leadership Academy, Cub Scouts, and Garden Club. Families plug in through PTO, Watch D.O.G.S., Helping Hands, and Mentoring, turning support into momentum for every learner.

Plan Your Visit
Whether your child is ready to code, grow in the garden, perform with Strings, or lead in the classroom, you’ll find a welcoming team and inspiring opportunities at Blackshear Elementary. Tour our campus, meet our staff, and see the H.E.R.D. values in action. Join the Buffalo family—where students learn, lead, and belong every day.

Parent University

We believe families are powerful partners in every child’s success. Parent University is a free program for parents and caregivers. Through interactive sessions hosted on campus, at district events, and virtually families gain practical tools to support learning at home, stay informed, and connect with trusted staff. Topics range from helping with homework to building healthy routines to navigating digital safety, all aligned to each school’s academic goals.
