Advanced Math (Intermediate)

Grade 6–7 Advanced Math is a rigorous, compacted pathway for students who are ready to explore grade-level mathematics with greater depth, rigorous pacing, and prepare for higher-level algebraic thinking. The Grade 6 Advanced course blends and extends the Grade 6 TEKS with select Grade 7 standards, while the Grade 7 Advanced course blends select Grade 7 and Grade 8 standards. This structure supports students in developing strong conceptual understanding, fluent procedures, real-world problem-solving skills, and the independent learning habits needed for continued success in secondary mathematics. Students on this pathway typically take Algebra I (Klein Prep) in Grade 8.

Highlights

Instruction emphasizes the major ideas of middle school mathematics—rational numbers and operations, equations and inequalities, ratios, rates, and percents, geometric relationships, and data and statistics—taught with attention to conceptual depth and meaningful application. Lessons move at a quicker pace than on-level courses while still ensuring students have time to reason, discuss, and reflect. Students use graphing technology and modeling to visualize mathematical relationships and investigate real-world questions.
